We have a KENMORE Elite 6 BURNER GRILL with a side burner that uses NATURAL GAS and it's about 5 years old. Sears has a conversion kit for $200 but our local Sears in Ocala, FL won't narrow down how many hours for us to get a good labor price and it does not seem very cost efficient to go this route we are tempted to buy a new LP grill or is there a way to convert this with a generic kit? Ideas? Thanks

Hello LPgirl. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.
EXCELLENT DIY Project!....
The best method for a do it yourself project is to purchase all conversion parts (propane orifices and propane regulator) at your local retail appliance parts store. Dealers can be found in the phone book.
You'll need to replace all existing natural gas orifices and install the propane gas orifices. Also remove any currently installed natural gas regulator on the BBQ and install a propane gas regulator.
Be sure to note the BTU rating for all burners. BBQ burners and cook top burner. Purchase replacement propane orifices of the BTU rate needed.
Local appliance parts store(s) will know what is needed and the purchase price for parts will be far less costly then buying through manufacturer or retail sales store where BBQ was purchased.
If you do not already have a 5 pound (gallon) propane bottle, they can be purchased already filled at most big box stores.
