Magic Chef Oven/Not keeping correct temp

Hi, I have a Magic Chef gas range model 6498VTV that is
about 11 years old. The oven gradually over time (about a year) developed a problem. The actual temperature inside the oven does not reach the set temperature on the display. I use a external digital thermometer with the probe in the oven to test/verifyoven temperature .I set the oven to 5oo degrees, wait for the oven to beep indicting it has reached 500 degrees on the keypad. The temperature inside the oven reached 225 degrees and going will go up and down. Touch pad does not show any fault codes, glow ignitor bright red, gas valve comes on, oven burner ignites yet the oven temperture is way off. The convection fan for the
oven runs all the time. Do you think it is the relay board/control unit or the oven temperture sensor?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello opnjim and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and to the Gas Appliances topic.

Based upon the problems description, I would suggest replacing the temperature senser. That part is prone to wearing out over time and usage. Which can cause the problem/condition described.

Use caution install the replacement part. Temp sensors are delicate items, damage easily and are a non returnable part once purchased and installed.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
