Maytag gas stove MGR5770
Purchased new 6 years. Stove works oven doesn't light. Broiler and cleaning (upper) does. Appears to be ignition or gas valve issues. Any thoughts? Ease of repair and approx. part cost. Thank you.

Hello Jackie C. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic.
Chances are the HSI (Hot Surface Igniter) is weak. Glows but not hot enough to ignite gas. So the gas control valve fails to open. Which it is suppose to do as a safety precaution.
Replace the HSI and problem should be resolved. Step by step instructions can be found in the sticky note in this forum topic and by reading some of the existing threads in this topic also.
Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.
Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
