I have been told to replace the thermostat on the heating element on my approxiametly 10 year old whirlpool dryer. My only problem is, how do I access the thermostat. It is in a very akwars position, on the floor of the dryer on the left side.

Hi avid B.

If you have already been told to replace the T-Stat sensor, and it's located where you say it is, you should already should have the front panel removed.

That sensor, if we are both talking about the same part, should be on the discharge side of the exhaust fan.

If it appears to be in a difficult location and you think you might draw blood from a cut, proceed carefully.

If you do actually do cut yourself and draw blood, now that becomes an addition charge on the bill...hahaha

If you do not already have that part, post exactly what the dryer ISN'T doing. This way we might help you further. I suspect that part may not even be the fix your dryer needs. Elaborate more on the symptoms.

Good Luck

Whirlpool dryer
Model LHI7801

The problem I have with my dryer is that it does not get hot enough when
drying. This problem is also exhibited on the timed dry cycle, the
clothes still come out damp. What part can be used to fix this?

I have already tried cleaning the exhaust duct and all lint, but to no avail.
