Question

When reconnecting the gas line on a kitchen stove are you supposed to use silicon tape or some other kind of sealer on the threads? It looks like there was something like that added before, but I'm not sure if I should add more or not.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi:jbaleap

Remove ALL existing pipe tape from both the pipes and the adaptors. Do not add more nor use any to reconnect the parts.

On the pipe threads, use a pipe thread lube & sealant. On the adaptor threads, use a lite weight motor oil. <Pipe thread sealant may also be used on adaptor threads. Apply it lightly.>

Once your done, soap test all the parts & connections to verify there are no leaks.

Good Luck,
