Question Dryer (Drum) doesn't turn.

Our electric dryer heats up, but the drum doesn't turn. It sounds like the motor is running but it's not turning. I pulled off the back but couldn't find any access to the dryer drum belt motor, etc. How do you access the motor to see if it's broken or whatever? Our dryer is a Kenmore # 62802101.

UNPLUG DRYER FIRST

Take out lint screen and remove 2 screws there. Take a stiff putty knife and slide it between the top and front panel near the side and pry up on each side. Top will pop off clips holding down.(may have to use a little force) lift top up and lean back. look inside at front panel and find 2 screws holding on (near top on sides) pull up on front panel and will come off. Careful of wires to door unplug wires or just put it to the side. Hope this helps

dryer drum not turning

I pulled the back off the dryer earlier and did remove the lint vent. After doing that should I pry the top up at the seam between the dryer body and the top of the dryer. It also has 2 clips on the back of the control panel. Will those need to come off too? Thanks

Do not go through back The only things back there are thermostats, heater and thermo fuse. Everything I told you is from the front

dryer drum still doesn't turn

Thanks for the link to replacing a broken dryer belt. I followed the procedure and the dryer belt is inplace. With the top of the dryer removed, I can spin the dryer by hand and the belt turns. It still doesn't turn in the "ON" position. Any other ideas? Is there a fuse, etc.?

dryer drum still doesnt turn

The heater works. I definitely hear and feel the blower motor. Not sure if the drum motor is working. It's difficult to tell which or both motors are running.

Only one motor Sure you have the belt threaded right. With top up is the belt tight? You might have missed getting belt on motor pulley right or sometimes it will slip off idler pulley and get stuck between pulley and mount.
