Unhappy GE Gas Range XL44 Word "door" in display

Moved stove for some kitchen remodeling and now when you press "Bake" to use the oven you get the word "door". Tried cleaning the oven and the self-cleaning features works. Did note that you can set the oven to clean without locking it, as if the door or latch appears to all ready be locked.

Hello. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

.....The door sensing switch just might be stuck in the door closed position. You'll have to physically verify it's position. Turn off the electrical power or unplug the appliance from the wall outlet first.

Remove panel covering switch location and note the position of the switch, if possible. Usually a very tiny micro switch. If switch in the closed position open it. If the switch is in the open position, you'll need to due a continuity test. Switch may be shorted internally.

Note the display wording in both instances. With wires disconnected may still display word "Door". In this case very likely a short somewhere and/or the section of the circuit board may be defective. ETC.

>>>Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be also.<<< They will need the make, model an serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.
