Coleman heater won't shut off

I have a Coleman hearter in my trailer and when I turn it on, it doesn't always shut off. Infact most of the time it doesn't. It gets so hot and fills the air with a burned carbon smell that I have to go outside and shut off the switch. Turning the thermostat down or off won't shut it off, I changed the thermostat and it still doesn't work. I'm not using it anymore but I would like to get it fixed, any Ideas?

Thank you

My assumptions are this is a forced air furnace in a mobil home??? Trailer? Mobile trailer that can be towed? RV trailer?

What type of Coleman heater? Portable heater? Forced air or wall furnace?

I'll have to make a lot of assumptions here since there isn't enough detailed information to work with.

Check the wires from the thermostat to the furnace control. They may be shorted out keeping the furnace on.
Could also be the gas control valve has a short.
Lots of possibilities.

All else fails have a professional service agent service or fox it for your personal safety and peace of mind.
