Dryer gas leak (not at connection)

Where would gas be leaking from on my dryer? It's not at the main connection or connection at back of dryer. The dryer is heating. The smell doesn't appear for about 15 minutes, but is strong. Gas detector goes off in the basin with the clothes and goes through the exhaust pipe.

Thanks!

Have you checked the gas valve??? The old style with the nut are prone to leak.

Or sometimes the old aluminum flex connectors split. If its an old style grey connector change it.

Have the gas co. come out and check for a leak. Most smells from dryer are from something around dryer, Have you painted anything in house, cleaning supplies near dryer, any kind of glues used in house? Have had smell from house next door being painted.
