magic chef oven will not start

I have a Magic chef oven 64hn; stovetop burners work fine. Oven and broiler does not start. I set temp, start, I hear fan whirl, a click, heating elements get hot; after 10-15 seconds, another click, element and fan shuts off. I replaced the heating element for oven and no difference.

Hello Ron Rosey and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and the Gas Appliances topic.

Heating element you mean the glow igniter bar or coil? Some glow igniters are round and some are flat. Does not really which one it is. Just need to know that is what you mean by heating element. ADVISE PLEASE.

Are there two igniters? Or just one? Two would be there if there is one for the oven and another one for the broiler. Advise please.

May be the gas valve (isolation valve) to oven/broiler is turned off. (???) Turned off when you replaced the igniter but did not turn it back on??? There just might be an seperate gas shut off (isolation valve) for oven/broiler. If so, the top burners would still have gas but not the oven/broiler.

Gas valve to burner(s) may be defective. Test it this way. When glow ignitor is on, tap gas tube that brings gas to burner with the back end of a kitchen knife or screw driver. Burner light up, then gas valve weak. Needs to be replaced. If nothing happens try again. Still nothing, gas valve defective. Solution is to replace it with a new OEM part.

Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
Before attempting any cleaning or repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
