outdoor gas lamp doesn't work

I recently moved into a house with a gas lamp in front. The "T" shaped piece inside the latern was broken off so i'm not sure A) if that can be fixed AND B) if theres even gas running to the lamp at all.
How can i find out if theres a gas line connected to the lamp and if it can be repaired?

Thank you very much

I don't know about now but in my area in the past the gas lanterns were leased from the gas utility. I would suggest that you call them first.
