Inglis gas dryer won't start up
#1
I have an old (I would guess at least 20 years) Inglis Citation gas dryer. It started to clang when drying so I took off the back and attempted to fix the noise. I fiddled with some of the belts and when I thought I had it fixed, I plugged it back in. Now the dryer won't start to spin at all. The light comes on indicating that the heat is on, but no spinning! My natural lack of knowledge with stuff like this is NOT helping me, so I was hoping someone else could!

Hello and welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.
Must admit I am not exactly familiar with that brand name. However, since you mentioned belts, could be the belt is not correctly looped around the tension arm pulley.
There is a micro switch attached to the tension arm pulley. If the belt is incorrectly looped over it, it will not hold the switch contacts closed. This will cause the condition you discribed.
Could also be the door safety switch. That switch is located on the front panel. If it's damaged or not connected, it's as if the door where open. Nothing works.
Once you figure out what the cause of the problem is, the noise will most likely be the drum support parts. Check the archives. A lot of information on this topic can be found there.
