What was it that solved this problem? My mother's dryer is having the same issue and it also will not enter the test mode.
I checked the resistance of the thermistors new and old. The new one was 10.3 and the old was 11.6. Cant remember which setting it was in (200 ohm range I think). It sounded like it was still in spec.
I changed the cheaper parts fist, thermistor and start switch. The control board is on order. The factory instructions said that if the motor started but stopped, it would be a bad control board but if it didnt start at all it was a bad motor. This is the only forum with exactly the same problem she is having.

Welcome to the forums.
A lot of incorrect advice in that old thread. A defective thermistor won't damage the board either.

Nope... not the door switch. When that's bad nothing happens.
On some it can be caused by the centrifugal switch in the motor.
Hard to tell on this one without the model number.

My understanding is that the dryer starts but won't stay running unless you hold the start button. Check for 48vdc across the two pink/black wires on the motor relay after you hit the start button. If no good, the board is bad. If good, the motor relay is bad. Most likely, the board is bad, these even heat boards are a high failure item. Inspect board for discoloring or burned components.
BTW, this is a gas dryer

Sorry about the miscommunication. I originally posted to a different thread and this one was created without context.
Yes. The dryer will start and heat until you release the start button. It will not go into diagnostic mode at all. If the door is open, the drum wont start. I switched the two relays and it didnt solve the stay-running problem so i dont think thats the issue. I should know if the control board is the problem by wed/thurs and will report back. The problem isnt buying parts and throwing them at the dryer. Its the drive for me to install them. Knowing how much the repair guy will charge makes it economical even if I make a few mistakes in the process.

Switching relays should of covered that. Look closely at the bottom of board may have a burnt spot on it. Usually very easy to see, Fairbanks told of voltage you should see from board.
We try to stay from old posts as it gets very confusing.
