I have a Modern Maid gas cooktop and for some reason the ignitor won't stop clicking even if all knobs are off. It still works but the clicking never stops. I can see the spark on the ignitor but I don't understand why it would do it even if all knobs are turned off for sure.

Hello and welcome carmarri to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.

Hi: Carmarri

Your stoves problem is all too common with electronic ignition sparkers. There is lots of information to help you with this problem within this gas appliances forum. Check the archives on this very subject pertaining to stoves.

Basically, it's either a wet or a defective sparker switch located on top of the gas valves which are under the knobs, failed ignition modual, incorrect electrical polarity from the walls outlet socket or a grounded connection somewhere in the circuit.

Be sure to unplug the stove prior to attempting to locate the problem. Instructions are posting in the archives too.
