i have a premier brand gas stove with an electric ignitor. the problem is that when i turn on the oven the ignitor starts sparking as it should, but; after the burner lights the ignitor continues to click and click and click until the time between clicks becomes longer and longer and then it eventually stops clicking alltogether. the oven otherwise works fine. the top burners have no problems at all. please help. the noise is driving me nuts.
thanks in advance,

pamlen

Hello and welcome pamlen to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.

Try cleaning the pilot flame sensor element. The element is the rod that the pilot flame heats.

If the sensor element is dirty, it may not sense the presence of the pilot flame and send the signal to the spark module to turn it off.

Cleaning should correct this. Use a light steel wool pad or similar cleaning brush. Do not use oven cleaner on it.
