Whirlpool dryer: replaced broken ignitor, still won't light

Hello,

I have a 2006 Whirlpool Duet dryer. It quit heating and found the ignitor broken. I replaced it today and the flame won't come on nor will the ignitor glow.

When I start on the dryer, I hear a solenoid click, the drum rolls, and nothing.

What should I try next?

Hello, and thanks for the responses.

The dryer is a Whirlpool model WGD9400VE1. It has a removable panel and all of the burner gear is on the lower right. When I got the ignitor, I checked it for continuity with the meter set on 400 ohms and got a reading of 50.

I'm shooting over to repairclinic.com right now.

Thank you.

Usually when you find a broken igniter.... just replacing it fixes the problem.

Did you check the igniter for continuity after you installed the new part ?
It is possible you cracked the new one putting it in.

Make sure you did not crack new ignitor (very easy to do) All these parts for continuity both thermostats, flame sensor, ignitor, Thermo fuse if yours has one. Should be a wiring diagram in lower panel with all parts shown. Hi limit thermostat is a common one to go out. Right side top of flame tube hard to reach. Any open are bad. after fixed clean vent to outside, clean all the way.
