Gas Range Problems

I have a GE XL44 self-cleaning gas range. The front panel (key pad) suddenly went out. However, the light above the front panel turns on and off and works properly. The oven light and four burners also work. I have taken the front panel apart and see no shorted wires or damage parts or wires.

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Carmine

Hello and welcome Carmine to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliance forum.

The information you have posted may not be all that good. The most likely cause for this problem maybe the failure of the electronic touch pad circuit board.

I use the maybe, because I prefer to be totally open here. I am not all that well versed on every aspect of of every electronic system used in ovens.

Word from the appliance repair people I have contact with claim it is a condition which means the electronic board will need to be replaced.

You'll either need to have it tested and replaced professionally or remove it yourself, take it to the local appliance parts store, have it tesed and if it tests defective, replace it yourself.

Use caution if your doing the board replacement yourself. The boards are often costly and are a non returnable or refundable item.
