Flames coming out the Range knob

Hi!
I have a GE gas range model # JT20W0F3WW, when I try to turn on one of my burners it never turned on and instead a flame was coming out of the knob. I cut the electricity off and since then I am lighting the burners on manually with matches. Any idea what the problem may be?

Thank you!

......

Based only upon the limited info provided, as I am able to understand it, not able to diagnose any condition or determine a problem. Slightly confusing. Burner never turned on (assumption not lighted by spark ignition) but able to light with match???

When you tried to turn the burner on...... did you hear the igniter sparking ?

There is a switch on every burner knob that activates the spark module. You may have a bad switch. You would need to lift the stove top to look further.
