Flame adjustment on kenmore elite gas stove model 79363400

Gas range is approx. 12 years old and highest BTU burner on this 5 burner stove
burns as if it were on "simmer." Is there a way of adjusting flame wthout incurring
a $75. plus service call from a Sears representative? Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

This is a new problem or has it always been like that ?

There is no flame size adjustment. There is an air mixture shutter and there is usually a minimum flame adjustment.

If this burner was working normally and is now low.... I'd say there was an overflow and something spilled down into the burner. This usually gets into the gas orifice and partially plugs it causing a smaller than normal flame.

The orifice will be below the burner cap. It will be a little tiny hole. You can use a sewing needle to clean it out.
