Kenmore gas stovetop questions.

I had the stove on a dolly and was lowering it fr my truck. When the dolly touched the floor stove tipped over and fell onto its side. I had the aluminum back panel loose before I lowered it and when I picked up the stove from its side, I saw a plate was resting somewhere inside the back of stove.
Might anyone know where it goes?
I tried looking at the parts diagram but it is not pictured.

Kenmore model is 790.71313707

Thanks,
Victor

Gas stovetop igniter wires arcing together. Might it be because it is too humid?

I have a Kenmore 790.78853601 range that i took the top off to clean the igniters and all the nasty grease the previous owners neglected to clean.
4 of the 6 igniters worked before and now that I try to ignite them, will not work.
I am working on it in the garage and it has been raining so is very humid.
The wires are coming from the igniter module and are all routed together and then split off to go to their designated burner.
When I try to turn on any of the burners, it clicks ad sometimes I see spar on a burner but more on the wires themselves arcing on each other. I think they have absorbed a lot of moisture from the air and have lost their isolation capability. They are also resting on the insulation that is over the interior part of the oven and that too may have absorbed moisture?
Do the wires go bad and start to arc on each other or is it that they have just absorbed moisture and need to dry out?

Thanks,
Victor

Welcome to the forums.

I merged your two threads as they were for the same appliance.

That's the panel in the bottom of the oven over the burner.

Range oven bottom panel. Part 8 under the BODY tab.

The wet wires could arc where they shouldn't be. Also..... the igniters must be completely dry or they will short out the spark.

Hi snf thc for the response. The metal plate I have does not look like part #8. might it go under that part?

Also, what type of wires are used for the igniters? I have a bunch of thermocouple wire I could use but wanted to check here first.
If not thermocouple wire, how about spark plug wire?

Thx again

Just dry the wires and they should be fine.

That plate shows heavy heat. I can only think of a burner cover. Possible above the broiler.

As far as the plate goes, I can't figure out where it could possibly go. I looked all over the bottom and it is as wide as the bottom of range but there is nowhere i could see that it fit. I can tell you that the inside of the oven has plate #8 and under that is the plate that goes over the burner(#20 in the burner section of parts) and then under that is nothing. if I open the bottom drawer and lean over to look in the drawer, I can see the burner on with no protection for whatever may be in the drawer. That does not see right. I called Kenmore(sears) and they were of no help.

Thanks again PJ
