Weber bbq ignitor

Hello,

We inherited an older Weber summit platinum. 2of the 3 bunker igniters look to be dead. The ignitor for one burner, the smoker and rotisserie burner are igniting

The cost for the full ignition kit is $140 here in Canada

Bbq model 7790009.

Could I buy a generic ceramic electrode and simply plug it into the Weber spark generator? Are there specs to the elctroade or are they all the same?

Thanks

Generic? Not necessarily.

I think this is the link to the kit you need. https://www.weber.com/US/en/parts-fi...less/7509.html

I replaced mine recently and got mine off ebay after identifying the correct part #.

The age is critical to getting the right part. I believe one fits into a roubd hole, one fits into an oval hole with flat sides. Best to remove yours to see which it is.

Maybe that's not the right one. I missed the summit part of the model name.

A generic battery-powered spark ignitor should only cost $20-30 online. Does you grill have just one that sparks all burners? If some work & others don't you should look for the spark wire to be detached at one end or the other.

Have you checked to make sure the ignitors are not dirty. Use a fine wire brush to clean off any accumulated gunk.

Another issue that may not be your problem: Shortly after I got my new Weber grille the battery powered ignitors stopped working. I found the problem when I was trying to light the grill when it was dark outside. The wire leaving the ignitor unit was sparking over to the chain for the manual match-holder that was hanging close to it. When I moved the chain further away the ignitors worked fine.

Make sure your ignitor wires are not touching any metal other than the end connections.

Summit Platinum is a group name. There are many models in that group.
weber/summit-platinum-parts.asp

So consequentially there are several different igniter choices too.

Pretty sure itís the D6 model so the entire ignitor kit is expensive. Really only looking to replace two eltires ctrode boxes but canít find them separately.

Was wondering if generic elctrodes would work.

I found a Weber repair kit of all three for him on ebay. Looks like a really good deal.
Hope he gets his private messages! The D6 was the key.

Weber told me that individual electrodes are not available for the D6. Does that make any sense?

Many times the manufacturer doesn't offer single parts.... just a kit.

Is the picture I posted what you need ?
