Samsung dryer belt broken

Hi,

i have a gas Samsung dryer. The control panel works (counts down) but drum does not spin. I took off the top and based on some videos I saw there should be a belt wrapping around the drum top. I dont see it.

So should be easy repair but what bothers me is when I started dry cycle i did not hear the motor spin. Seems like I should hear the motor spin or does it somehow know the belt is broken? It's silent except for a faint click.

Thanks

Some units have a switch and know if the belt is broken.
For detailed help we need the model number.

One more question, what is procedure for installing the belt?
It seems the drum can only install from above so it is just a matter of first threading the belt on motor and idler, maintain tension while installing drum and then slip belt onto drum?

I did not remove the impeller cover, so once drum installed I can't reach belt. I can see it though.

Thanks again

No easy way to replace belt. Top off, control panel off or moved out of way. Some have a couple of wires and some have a lot of wires. the one with a lot of wires I put to the side as far as I can , not far. Take front off There are 2 screws in the front near lint filter I usually forget. After front off Belt not hard to change. Done a lot of them and can do one in 30 minutes or less. Plan a hour.

I normally use Sears parts to link to but the site has been sluggish. This is appliance parts pros. They retail parts and have helpful videos. There is a belt replacement video in the link below.
