Gas smell inside oven
#2
Many people are sensitive to the fumes. The additive in the gas even after burned leaves a distinctive smell. It can be worse in the cold months too.
It's normal to smell the burned fumes when the oven is first lit. After it heats up..... the burner cycles and there should be no more or minimal fumes. If you smell gas while the oven is in operation...... change the igniter. The igniter is in series with the safety valve. The igniter must glow white hot for the valve to open properly. As the igniters get old.... they don't glow as brightly and they draw less current keeping the valve from fully opening.
