Kitchenaid superba KGSC308LSS0 oven turns on by itself.

My kitchenaid superba KGSC308LSS0 is acting up. it could be possessed.
last friday my wife and kid was at home doing their normal home stuff, and suddenly my wife noticed that the house was getting way too hot with no apparent reason.
She noticed that the oven was on but nothing was displayed on the control display.
Since there was nothing displayed on the screen there were no mean to shut it down..
She got scared and called the Fire department.. Those busy brave man came into my house and unplugged and shut the gas off. I felt really bad..
After all the fiasco I went online and did some research on my own...
Some say is the thermostat some say its the relay on control board.....
Can anyone advice me a proper way to fix my possessed Range/Oven?
I am scared because no one or my kids could be home alone and this could happen...

Welcome to the forums.

It's not the thermostat. The thermostat is electronic and is part of an electronic system.
It's not a relay. A relay can get stuck closed keeping the oven running but it cannot close of its own accord.

There are three parts to the control system. Very expensive union. It's a common problem for buttons to go bad and sometimes get stuck in but in that case you'd have an "oven on" indication on the display. So I'd doubt it's the front control panel. The range control board is the processor of the oven system and the relay board takes its commands from it. The problem is there is no easy way to tell which board is the actual culprit and it would be experimental to find out.

How old is this appliance ?
Maybe a letter to Whirlpool is in order.

9782455 range control board/display ?

can not say for sure how long it came with the apartment I bought five years ago.
I did write a letter to whirlpool.. but taking a long time to get an answer..
thank you pete for your prompt advice..
attached is the photo of the control board I suspect but is there another board on this appliance I agree the display/control panel might not be the culprit since there no message displayed on it.

thanks pete
