Whirlpool dryer - gas smell from inside when running

Hello,

So about a month ago our gas dryer started making this high pitched whining sound. My initial thought was the pulley, belt and drum guides should be replaced. So I did that. The issue of the whining was not solved. I then took a look at the blower fan. This also was not the issue. I then ran the dryer, waited for the whining to begin and I then she off the gas. The whining stopped immediately.
I then took my self down to the hardware store and bought a gas connection hose thinking this might be the issue. After installation and putting everything back together, I started the dryer. STILL NOT FIXED. And now there is a gas smell coming into the drum when it is running. I went ahead and unplugged it from the wall and shut off the gas to the dryer.
I am stumped here. Anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks in advance!

Phil

Welcome to the forums.

The blower draws the heated air and exhaust thru the tub and out the exhaust vent line.
You should have a good airflow coming out of the back of the dryer.
Try running the dryer without connecting the outside vent line as a test.

Also confirm that the vent line is clean to outside.
