should I buy old gas dryer Maytag DG712?

should i get this over 40-year old dryer? I have the matching 44-year old washing machine which works great. i love how they look and it's tempting to have the matching set and i love the idea of using an older machine for as long as possible. i'm just concerned about dryer safety - don't want a gas leak for instance. many though not all parts are still available. the dryer currently works well but i'm not sure how much longer to expect it to run. thanks for your input.

Welcome to the forums.

If it's been used lightly it may have a lot of life left in it.
Age doesn't cause gas leaks.
I've never heard of a dryer gas valve cause a leak with age.
Typically they just stop working or work intermittently.

Looks like that unit came out in/around 1992. It may not even be 40 years old.
I have a Whirlpool dryer that's 30 years old.
Been thru one drive motor and lint filter.
Still going strong. Built similar to your Maytag.
