Question Water Heater Problem

My 12 year old 40 gal hot water heater has starting leaking from the safety valve. Can I replace the valve, or do I need to replace the water heater itself?

Forum Moderator Note:
I agree. Change the Pressure/Temperature {PT} valve.
I would also suggest you save your "Pocket Change" too.
At 12 years old, tank replacement time isn't too far off.

Hello,
If it is still heating up the water right then all you need to do is replace the water pressure valve.

hot water heater

Hello, and thanks for the help. I agree that a new unit is in the near future, will be good to hold off for a little while.
Thanks again
