clean or replace evaporator coils ?

For a residential coil badly fouled with molds and algae, and probably dusts, is it better to clean or replace the coil? What should be used to clean the coil ? Should a a bleach/detergent solution be used ? Coil access extremely tight but a long spray tube could probably find all areas. Thank for any possible help.

You can only see the gunk that's at the surface of the coil. The coil is packed solid. The effective way to clean it is to remove it and clean from both sides with a foaming action type cleaner that's available to HVAC professionals. Cleaning the coil in place with bleach/detergent will not get it clean.
