Turn off the cool switch to off.
Turn the fan switch to ON. Try to determine if the indoor fan is moving any air by holding your hand up close to a supply grille. If there is any air movement at all leave the cooling off for two or three hours to melt off the frost.
It there is no air movement, the indoor fan motor, relay or belt is the likely problem. Newer units do not have belts (that can break in old age). When you switch the fan off and on (with the cooling OFF), you should hear a small click at the air handler or furnace. If you do hear the click, the relay is operating and the fan motor isn't. Is the fan motor hot? Feel it only when the fan and cooling switches are set to OFF.
