Question Radiators Dripping

We removed several radiators this summer so we could paint. Now that they are hooked up again and the system is refilled, several of them are dripping very slowly. Do they need to be tightened or do we need to put some kind of sealer on the threads first?

Thanks!

If you used pipe dope or thread sealant when you reconnected the fittings, tightening should work. If not, you need to take them apart and do it again with the sealant. The main function of the sealant is to lubricate the connection so that the male pipe which is tapered (wedge shaped) will pull in deeply enough into the pipe fitting to seal without extreme force. That is why teflon tape or paste has become the sealant of choice... It is very slippery.
