Wink Which Efficient Heat Pump is cheapest?

I'm going to be selling my home in a year or 2 so who cares about long-term quality. I need to replace my 17 year old system with a 14 or 15 seer heat pump. Anyone know the best deal out there? Lennox has $200 rebate going right now.

Thanks.

specs'

1160 sq/ft, 2-story, airhandler in starwell.

if you are selling

why such high efficiency? you will not get the payback. look at american standard, and get several quotes, they are free.

Question Is your old one broke ??

If the old one works leave as-is and reduce the sale price of the home.
Let the new people put in what THEY want !!
You won't need to reduce the price of the house as much as the equiptment would cost.
If it is BROKE and can't be fixed for a reasonablre amount get a 10 SEER Goodman, decent product at an affordable price.

Your wrong 54 and it could cause the house not to sell.

I don`t think you should put junk in a house just because you are selling it. You may be moving to a house where the last owner did this with the roof and every thing else.

Question Goodman Junk ??

Goodman is the nuber one producer of HVAC equiptment in the WORLD, they must be doing something right.

Ask an APPRAISER how much new HVAC or a different brand adds to the house.

An APPRASIER only cares how OLD the system is and if it works or not.

The average home buyer has no idea about HVAC brands and stuff, they just want ti to work when they hit the switch.

The APPRAISER told me MY house would have been worth $400.00 more if it had ANY central HVAC (now has wall heater and window units)

Show me somebody who will install central HVAC for $400.00 !!!!

Get a reality check dude....

Lightbulb Real world

No oline "apprasial" askes what brand or SEER your HVAC is, nor is it written in any apparaisal I have ever seen.
The appraiser only makes a note if it is NEW or really OLD or not working properly.
Show me ONE appraisal where SEER increased teh value of the home
Higher resale value is a MYTH used by HVAC contrators to sell equiptment.
Appraisers only care how old it is and if it works properly and so do most home buyers.
The average HO hasn't got a clue about different brands and SEER ratings so long as it is cool in summer/warm in winter
How else do you explain HVAC contractors constantly oversizing (by twice the size or more) heating and cooling equiptment with few complaints ??

Not to change the subject, but just for educational purposes, is there a web site or other d-i-y way to calculate the proper size equipment as a way of cross-checking estimates (keeping the contractors honest)?

Thumbs up Estimates

The HVAC contractor SHOULD do a load calculation, but unfortunately VERY few actually do it.
Most just stick in there whatever they have in the warehouse that day.
Only the best do load calcs.
You can download a program but it costs $39.00
www.hvac-calc.com
As far as estimates there is no "key" for HAVC than any other home repair trade.
Just get a few estimates, go for QUALITY installation it will save you in the long run
