Question Thermostat Connection To Condenser

I have just replaced a blower fan in a Carrier gas furnace. When I was moving the electrical panel out of the way to get the fan housing out, one of the wires from the outside compressor came out of the terminal connection, where the thremostat wires connect. On the electrical control panel inside the furnace, it looks like the red wire is connected to the "common 24V" connection, and the white wire goes to the "Y", compressor activity connection. Does this sound right? ...before I power up. All of the lines from the thermostat cable are in the same places as before.
