Oil Furnace won't ignite

I have an old (38 years) Milwaukee oil furnace. I just bought this house. According to the previous owner the furnace was checked out before the house was sold and lit up and ran fine. When I try to start it up it appears that the oil pump and spray are working but it never ignites.

There is a box on the side with what appears to be test terminals on it where you can attach two wires.

Any help out there ?

Thanks

I called the heating and air guy and he said that about a year ago he came out and lit it and it seemed to be working fine then he proceeded to tell me that oil burners our out of date and I needed to install a new heat pump.

He says oil furnaces are unbelievably expensive to run. The guy that sold me the house has the same furnace in his house and he says how great and economical it is. Bottom line is I can't find anyone who will come out to look at it.

I'm afraid I've probably hit the stack reset switch at least 10 times at this point.

There is a small viewing door on the furnace and I see an oil mist going on in there but I can't really see if I have any oil build up in there.
