Humidifier on blow down furnace

I have an older ranch house on a slab, all the dustwork is in the slab except for the return. The flow thru humidifier I purchased suggests a horizontal installation but that is impossible. I mounted the unit on top of the furnace in the return duct and ran the ductwork to the chamber below the furnace where the condenser is. When the furnace is running hot air comes back up the duct and into the humidifier. Is this a problem? If so will simply drawing air thru the flow thru unit without the ductwork work, or will the pressure differential be insufficient to cyle the unit on? (it's a Lavko)
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like what you've done will work just fine.
If you don't have warm air entering the humidifier, you will have a reduced capacity.
