janitrol overhead garage heater

Im curious if I can convert a janitrol natural gas heater to propane. The heater is propably 40yrs old but its in great shape. If anyone has a link for me or information on how to do this I would appreciate it very much ...thanks...

It likely would be possible to convert.

It would be something that a licensed tradesman would have to do.
Some gas valves have a replaceable orifice, or if not would have to have the orifice peined and redrilled to the correct diameter.
In some cases the valve would have to be replaced.

A forty year old furnace would probably be better to have the gas valve changed anyway.

Tom_B is pretty knowlegeable in this area, maybe he'll be along.

LP

If the unit is in good shape why not. Like gregh said pull the orifices out, the gas company should have some for you. Just match them to what you have now.Put a new gas valve on and dont put the regulator back on as the lp will have one out side. If it lights hard, tilt the unit back just a little towards the orifice's. If cast iron burners and it lights hard put a small metal lip to hang down in the first slot in the burners ED

I also have an older Janitrol overhead heater. Except I need the wiring diagram. Do you have one for yours. If so, can you please *post a message* as to how I can get a copy? Thank you so much.
