Question Popping noise in duct system

Hi, I am new to this board...

I recently find out my 15 yr old townhouse having a problem with duct system for forced air heat. It is popping/ticking noise when the heating is on. I know this is because of expanding or contracting of the duct itself, but is there any way I can reduce the noise or get rid of it? It is happening in only one of the bedroom.

Thanks in advance,

Sang

noise

try taping the duct joints, installing sheetmetal screw is possible, and reinsulate.

Construction detail???

First of all, thanks for the replies.....to all of you.

And,......I am not sure what exactly you are asking...

If this is what you need...., my 2nd bedroom is located in the 2nd floor, and duct is passing thru the floor of 2nd floor (between ceiling of 1st fl.) and register of that room is located on the floor, and......1st cold air return is located at the right out side of the room and 2nd cold air return is located at the 1st fl. It is a townhouse which I already mentioned....I don't know whatelse I can day here.....

Thanks again.

hvac4u has summed up what must be done to stop the noise.

I was hoping to get the construction details to know how easy it would be to accomplish what he suggests.

If the ductwork is boxed in, the cure may be worse than the problem.
