Cold old house! First floor is freezing, second is boiling

I'm in a hurry so I'm just going to post my situation, then I'll add more datails when I have a moment later.

Our 1st floor is an ice box, especially the floors (both the ceramic tile kitchen and the carpeted living and dining rooms). The second floor, however, is a sauna.

Air is coming out of the vents downstairs, so I'm wondering if this is a result of the crawlspace underneath the house/insulation? (no basement).

I've tried closing the vents upstairs but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm about to call a heating pro over, but figured I'd post here for ideas as well.

thanks, Fletch
