thermostat control

My forced air furnace's setting control and room temperature dial vary by about eight degrees. The setting on the dial is at sixty-two but the furnace heats the room to seventy. Does anyone know how to make the adjustment more accurate?

Is it a Honeywell round? Maybe it isn't level, that would cause it to vary. Otherwise it might have to be recalibrated with a special wrench. Take the round cover off and put a level on the two small posts on the top of the sub-base. There should be two screws into the wall that go through slots in the sub-base for leveling and tightening.

Check and make sure the heat anticapator is on the right setting. The proper setting may be marked on the gas valve.
