gas furnace

hi frds
i m in ny in a 2000 sq ft house, its cold and the house is cold too.
i have a 15 yr old utica furnace with circulating hot water, a lux digital thermostat(recently changed)

the problem:
this morning the system started up and the house began to get warm but did not reach the termerature set on the termostat. i went to check the furnace and heard the automatic spark clicking and would see a puff of flame, but the furnace would not catch. it continues to do this every 10 to 20 seconds.

My guess would be that everybody else in NY is using gas at a high rate and your pressure is low and can't keep the boiler running. It could be an equipment problem but don't overlook the possibility of low pressure. Ask a neighbor or two if they had trouble.
