Heat pump help

Sometimes then fan does not not come on with compresser .If I kill power to both units for 5 minutes I can turn back on and the fan runs with the compresser for a while then does it again causing the compresser to get hot. Is the problem in the motherboard or is the fan going bad ? No noise from fan moter though.

Your information is very sketchy making it difficult to offer you decent helpful advice. Answering the following questions will better help us help you.

When you say the fan doesn't run, are speaking of the indoor fan or the outdoor fan?

Is your heat pump a packaged unit (all in one piece) or a split type (has seperate indoor and outdoor pieces connected by tubing)?

The brand, model number, and age would also be helpful.

Looking forward to hearing from you

The motor may be bad, the run capacitor may be bad. Try replacing the run capacitor first.....
