Heater Motor Problem

I have a forced air gas heat system. Kind of old, but a newer motor. When the furnace shuts down, a few minutes later, the motor will kick back on and run for about 15 - 20 seconds and then shut off. It will stay off for about 2 minutes, then kick on the same again. It will still work normally when the thermostat kicks it on for hot air. Don't know what the problem is. I have to turn it off manually to get it to stop this cycle.

sounds like

the fan limit is bringing the fan back on. this is possibly a dial type switch with a probe into the cabinet, sensing the temp and bringing fan on and off. the lowest setting is fan off, middle fan on, highest a safety cutting off gas valve. when the bonnet temp reaches the middle setting fan comes on, and when tstat satisfies, fan runs until bonnet cools off to low setting. you may have to adjust the low setting up a little bit, it may be wearing out..
