Is this a decent deal?

Hello all,

My 23 YO Rheem Electric Furnance and 10YO Rheem Condensor unit have just about given up.

I have found what I think is a decent deal for replacements.

Comfortmaker Variable Speed Air Handler
New Coil
Comfortmaker Softsound 10 SEER Condenser Unit.

Total Installed w/ new refrigerant lines - $2,400. First, is there anything inherently wrong with those components. And, does that sound like a pretty good deal?

Thanks,
Marshall

marshall,

very good price on borderline brand equipment. that is going by atlanta prices, may be different in your area. VS is good, i recommend that, but since your last unit, rheem, lasted 23 yrs, why not price that as well? i have 2 of them for this very reason, longevity. i would expect the comfortmaker to last 10 to 12 yrs, in my opinion. did you say 10 yr old rheem condenser giving up? either poor maintenance or get another opinion.

Smile I wish people would tell us where they live.

For the benefit of the one or two Canuks that hang around here our dollars are different.
If you are in Canada that $2,400.00 would be $1,630.00 US dollars.
If you are in the US that $2,400.00 would be $3,533.00 Canadian dollars.

I can't even use our dollar to shim up a table leg.
