furnace temp problem

The furnace does not turn on when the house goes below the temp set on the thermostat. We thought it was because of an older thermostat, so we replaced it but the problem is still the same. We live in Michigan so our winter is over, but the cooling costs because of this problem could be pretty high. Any Help thank you, Kathleen

Hello: Kathleen

Temperature controlling problems, as you're finding out, may not all be thermostat related. Thermostat condition, furnace type, condition, location and thermostat location can all have a major factor on controlling the temperature.

The professionals within this forum may need additional detailed information on the type of heating system, heater type, locations of the thermostat and heater, etc to provide you with more accurate possible causes and solutions.

Kindly use the reply button and post more detailed and specific information on the unit and thermostat, there locations etc. Doing so will help us help you. Thanks.
