Angry Air Conditioner Freezing Up

MY WHIRLPOOL WINDOW A/C KEEPS FREEZING UP. IT IS ONLY A YEAR OLD . ANY SUGGESTIONS OR REASONS AS TO WHY IT IS DOING THIS. THE OUTSIDE TEMP. IS 85*

You should make sure the filter and coils are clean and that the fan is operating properly.
Barring that, it could be low on refrigerant and would likely be covered under warranty.

The evaporator coil

The air filter is plugged in most cases. Run it without the grille on the cabinet and see if it freezes. If it freezes on the bottom 1/3, its got a leak and I believe your warranty is good for a couple years as long as no-one has tampered with the sealed system.
If it freezes across evenlythe air flow is restricted some how.. I had the same thing on a window shaker one time and the problem was the cool air was being recirculated into the cooling coil repeatedly. keep the speed on high...report back your findings! Oh....what is the inside space temp?
