2 or 4 wire thermostat wire ?

Hi, I will be getting a new zone valve installed on my bolier for new baseboard heat in my finished basement.

The wiring from my 2nd floor thermostat to the boiler is 4 wire, but only 2 wires are connected to the boiler.

My question is .. "When wiring the basement thermostat, do I use 2 wire or should I run 4 wire" ? I do not know why the original plumber used 4 wire.

Thanks
Joe

wire

Id say yes pull the 4. Its always good to have more than you need. one wire could go bad later on . Or down the line something new will come out you might want to put it in and it needs more wires. SO run the 4 wire Your just talking pennies here for the wire thats all ED
