From an estimate, these are the model numbers of
equipment the contractor proposes to install.
I am not familiar with this equipment.
My questions: How does Heil rate in your opinions?
Based on these model numbers, is this
first line equipment or is it something
he is looking to unload off the back shelf?

I like to know what I'm really getting and know how
business sometimes works.
Thanks

sounds like

2 ton a/c with 100,000btu furnace, very strange, something may not be sized right. that furnace is probably pushing too much air for the a/c, a speed change will be needed.

just saw your post

heil is ok, not a high end unit. have the contractor do a heat loss/load on the house. this does not sound as if it is sized correctly, and you will pay for it for years to come.

You're right. It should be a 3 1/2 Ton AC unit.
Thanks

i may have misread that model, 42 would indicate 3.5 tons.

I found these model numbers on the Heil website.
Except, there is an extra "A" on the end of these numbers.
This concerns me. What might this "A" stand for?
I hope not factory 2nd or reject.

not sure exactly

but this probably denotes a production change of some kind. i do not think it is a second, if you have a good contractor that has been used by others you know and you trust, he should stand behind the equipment, thats the best you can hope for. have you gotten other quotes?
