Unhappy The big fan in the big box outside

I have a KeepRite central air unit that is approximately 7 years old.

A while back I mentioned that the big fan in the box outside was making a rough noise like it needed oiling. Replies indicated that the unit would be too old to use oil and the noise is most likely caused by the ball bearings in the motor.

I took the top off the big box and turned the blades by hand. The noise could only be heard if I turned them fast.

When I turn the unit on sometimes it makes the noise, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it is louder than other times.

Does that still sound like it is the ball bearings in the motor?

Thanks in advance.

Linda

yep,

replace that motor before it dies. no fan while compressor is running can ruin a compressor fast.

the squeaky wheel does not always get the grease, sometimes it needs to be replaced!!!!!
