ac size

Can anyone tell me how big a air condioner unit is needed to cool a house in Minnesota tha is 2400 sq.feet,split entry,good insulation,7 rooms.The indoor coil will go in a 70,000 BTU oil fired furnace.Is here any more info needed? Thanks very much.

I'm afraid you've come to the wrong place with your question.
There are too many other variables to consider to be able to come up with a good answer.
I would suggest you get several contractors in to quote you on this and ask for a detailed load calculation.
They will also determine if your existing blower and ductwork can handle the required cooling capacity.

yes, get a few quotes. my house is similar to yours in upstate ny and i have a 2.5 or 3 ton unit. it should take a person about 30 minutes to determine the size..... they need to measure the home and look at some of the duct work.
