Adding central air

My sister just bought a house that has forced air heat. Currenty the main level is ducted with small registers near the floor and the upper level has these round type of registers in the ceiling.

BTW The house is only 4 years old.

Correct me if I am wrong but adding central air should be fairly easy?

The same duct work can be used right?

The house is about 1300sq ft. We are in CT so temps are not that hot but it has been lately.

She currently has no window units and I am trying to convince her to look into central before she goes out and by 2 or 3 of them.
(About $1000 worth of window ac's)

How much can she look to spend?? Ball park. Are we talking $3k, 5k, or 10k?

Thanks

Rem

Best way to start would be to get a few estimates and have them do load/loss calculations. That will tell you everything.

Central air would definatly be the way to go.

AC cost

Like Mat said get 3 bids on the job. Make sure they do a AC load on the home. What ever brand they sell the company that has been there the longest has the best cause they will back it. ED
