Question Rheem Outdoor Unit

I recently purchased a home for the first time. It came with a cnetral air system, which has a Rheem High Efficiency Model RACB-018JAQ unit outside. Last week, the fan stopped turning and it started emitting a high pitch sound (I thought it was going to blow up!). I turned it off and haven't turned it back on since. Does this sound like something I can fix myself, or do I need to call in the pros. Also, any ideas as to whether they will be able to fix this problem or will they (try to) get me to buy a new outdoor unit?

A/C fan

It just sounds like it could be the condenser Fan . With the power off to the unit you could try and move the fan . I dont think that unit has oil ports on the motor If it did you could try and oil it with #10 oil only no WD 40 or 3 in one. If you call a hvac tech I think they will only get you for a new condenser fan motor and new capacitor for it ED
